He was a Ramanandi Saint from Teteria village near Madhupur. His Guru had instructed him to preach Dharma in the land of Bengal, and had permitted him to give Krishna mantra to masses [inspite of being a Ramanandi Sadhu]. Damodarji’s adored Deity was ‘Banshidhar’. When he came to Digsui, he gave spiritual initiation to Dasarathidev Yogeswar.

He was a scholar and devotee from Digsui village. Thakur Sitaramdas Omkarnath chose him as His Gurudev, and nurtured intense reverence for him throughout His leela. Thakur had revealed Ista Darshan and Viswarup darshan to Dasarathidev. And after having the Divine revelation, Dasarathidev had written to Thakur-
‘Guruschet shisyohang sharanamupagatang pahi kripaya [shadhi kripaya]
Gururvo tehang vai kimsi gathitastat kathaya me.’
[Who are You? Guru or Disciple—I don’t know. But this much I know by heart—I am Yours, You are Mine. If You are Guru, then I am Your Disciple, I take refuge, render grace and liberate me. And if I am Your Guru, then tell me, what Matter You are made up of? Means, What is Your Identity?]

Leela as householder : After being forced to marry because of His Guru’s command,resolve to be an ideal householder, had two sons and one daughter. Later, completion of worldly leela of Kamala-Ma, followed by demise of younger son. Thereafter, Thakur formally took the ‘dor kaupin, got the Name of ‘Omkarnath’. Divine instruction & Nam-prachar leela : Vision & instruction (‘”Go & spread Naam”) by Lord Jagannath at Puri, followed by wide-spread preaching of Naam-Sankirtan.
As Guru : Gave spiritual initiation to millions of devotees, founded numerous ashrams, wrote more than 200 spiritual books. Thakur’s Guru-shakti gave shelter to one and all– men and women, familymen and saints, virtuous and sinner, rich and poor, Indians and foreigners …no one was deprived.
